NOTES

From the Eau Claire, Wisconson Leader Newspaper, September 11, 1906

"Charles Karker brother-in-law of Bert Tandler stated that the report that Walter Tandler had committed suicide was wrong.

Mr. Karker said that Walter Tandler died six years ago on the 7th day of January 1900, at his (Karker's) home in Drywood:
that Walter had been working in the woods near Duluth and was taken down with swamp fever. He was in the hospital in
Duluth for a time and was later brought by Karker to his home in Drywood. Paralysis set in and Walter died therefrom. He
did not commit suicide."

The death date from the card and from Walter's grave are off by one day which is not unusual as I have found this to happen with

other funeral cards of the time.
