NOTES

This is my thinking for this being Elijah Slocum listed to right.
The may in photograph is probably at least 60 years old and the photograph was taken sometime between 1860 - 1880 and most

likely about 1860's when this type of card and borders was in use. This would put his date of birth I'm guessing about 1790 to 1810.
In 1850 census I only find 5 Elijah Slocums, (Assuming that "Elijar" was a nickname for "Elijah").

They are :

Elija O. Slocum, born abt 1823 in Pennsylvania, living in Waltz, Wabash, Indiana
Elijah Slocum, born abt 1842 in Virginia, living in District 21, Harrison, Virginia
Elija S. Slocum, born abt 1848 in Indiana, living in Waltz, Wabash, Indiana
Elizah Stocum, born abt 1770 in New York, living in White Creek, Washington, New York
Elijah Slocomb, born 1800 in Massachusetts, living in Wilkinson County, Mississippi (name mispelled)

Of these 5 Elijah's the first three would have been too young.
The fourth would have been too old.
Only the 5th one listed to the right would have been about the right age.
