Comparing 1850 & 1860 census records, Hesters Beat seems to be in the southern portion of Autauga County, Alabama along the Alabama River, between Washington and Old Vernon.

In Shadrack Mims' History of Autauga County....he travels west along the river from the town of Washington describing the home places of citizens. As he crosses Nolan Creek he descibes
the home of the late Major William Hester, "as youlook to a high erninence". The "Hester Beat"may have been named for Major Hester, if his home had been an early Autauga County Polling place.
